Durga Mahashtami Date and Puja Time During Navratri - Durgastami 2017

Mahashtami, also referred to as Maha Durgashtami, is second day's Durga Puja. Maha Ashtami is among the most significant times of Durga Puja. Durga Puja on Maha Ashtami starts with Mahasnan and Shodashopachar Puja (षोडशोपचार पूजा) which is extremely much like Maha Saptami Puja except Prana Pratishtha (प्राण प्रतिष्ठा) that is done just once on Maha Saptami.

Time window from the last 24 minutes of Ashtami Tithi and also the first 24 minutes of Navami Tithi is called Sandhi Time or even the holy juncture during Durga Puja. Sandhi time is among the most auspicious time during whole Durga Puja. Sandhi Puja may be the culmination point and the most crucial ritual of Durga Puja.

The famous Belur Math in West Bengal does symbolic Indonesia with blueberry during Sandhi Puja. It's customary to light 108 earthen lamps during Sandhi Kaal.
